We used Smokin' Butts Bar-B-Q as our wedding caterer at Boyden Farm and we couldn't have been happier. The buffet-style BBQ food matched the rustic and laid-back atmosphere that we were looking for. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was professional and extremely helpful on the wedding day. Dave was excellent to work with and very flexible. We recommend Smokin' Butts to anyone that wants a stress-free catering experience!
The maple seasoning in the dry rub for the wings and the 2 BBQ sauces were great. But the whole tray of food came out luke warm and dry. The brisket looked gray as if it had been cut up for hours and sitting in a warmer. I only took two bites because it was so unappealing. The chicken was smoky but very dry and the ribs were again, flavored well, but lukewarm and dry. I just got the sense that everything was sitting out for a while before I ordered it. Even the little pickle side thy came out with the food, only 3 teenie tiny pickle slices and they cleary came from some big Sysco barrel of pickles or whatever. I love pickles and only ate one of the three mini coins. I liked the Mac and cheese well enough. The best thing I had by far was the cornbread. Very sweet and delicious. I'll go back just for the cornbread.
I’m a BBQ guy and I can say that the pulled pork sandwich with Maple BBQ is legit! Sides are a bit pricey but the cornbread is really good - has a hint of sweetness.
Ugg dry rub for ribs was terrible 4 dollars for a couple bites of beans come on should of went to dollar general got some bushes baked beans and ramon noodle soup so dissapointing was looking foward all day at work to some good ribs the stray dog at hotel wouldnt even eat them grrrrr
My husband and I went there and it was disappointing my mac and cheese was waterey from all the tasteless chicken on it and for 13.00 plus I had to put spicey BBQ on it to get any kind of flavor couldn't even eat more than a couple bites my husband got the piggy pile and the cheese looked like it came out of a can he couldn't eat his either we went there hungry and left hungry. It was our first and last time there!
For someone who has spent a fair amount of time eating BBQ in the south, we do not have good BBQ in Vermont, but compared to prohibition pig and Bluebird, smokin butts is last on the list. Best sauce, worst meats. So far bluebird tops the list. (They just need better sauces)
